VoltIQ works without an account. The web app and the calculators on this site run on your device and send nothing to a VoltIQ server. What you type stays there, apart from the numbers Make the Printout carries to the app in its link. This site counts visits and a few taps with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies, and our host keeps standard request logs. If you sign up for the phone pilot, we keep your name, email and phone type until the public launch. This page covers each of these, who handles it, and how to clear it.

Stays on your device

Your Printout name, letters and job line, calculator inputs, checklist ticks and Printouts. None of it goes to a VoltIQ server.

Counted on this site

Page visits and a few taps, with Vercel Web Analytics. No cookies, and nothing you typed. Our host keeps standard request logs.

Pilot sign-up, if you make one

Your name, email and iPhone or Android. Used only to send your test invite, and deleted after the public launch.

Not collected

Location, contacts or account details. No ads, nothing sold.

This website

This covers voltiq.tools, the site you're reading.

  • The calculators on this site run in your browser. What you type isn't sent anywhere while you use them.
  • Make the Printout opens the VoltIQ app with your numbers. They travel inside that link's web address, so they show in the address bar and your browser history, and pass through our host like any address you open.
  • We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies. It records the page opened, the site you came from, and the country, browser, operating system and kind of device, and we see those as totals.
  • We also count five taps. None of them carries anything you typed:
    • the first change to a calculator on a page (which calculator)
    • Make the Printout (which calculator)
    • a link that opens the web app (where on the site it was)
    • a store button (which store, and where on the site it was)
    • a pilot sign-up that went through (iPhone or Android, never your name or email)
  • Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device.
  • The site sets no cookies. Its fonts and scripts come from this site, not from other companies' servers.
  • Vercel, which hosts the site, sees network addresses when it serves pages and keeps them in its own logs.

Phone pilot sign-up

The form at /pilot signs you up to test the iPhone or Android app before it's in the stores.

  • What we keep: your name, your email, whether you use an iPhone or Android, and when you signed up. Your sign-up holds nothing else: no network address, no browser details.
  • Why: to send your test invite. We don't use it for anything else, and we don't add you to a mailing list.
  • Where: in a private Vercel Blob store that only the people who run VoltIQ can open. When we invite you, your email goes to Apple (TestFlight) or Google (Google Play testing), who keep it under their own terms. For Android, we also email you the link to join the test.
  • How long: until the public launch. Then we delete every sign-up.
  • Sooner: email support@voltiq.tools from the address you signed up with and we'll delete yours. If you've already been invited, we'll take you off the tester list too.

Vercel runs the form, so like any page it sees your network address in its request logs.

In the app: what stays on your device

The VoltIQ app is the web app at app.voltiq.tools, and the iPhone and Android apps when they arrive. They handle your data the same way.

  • Your Printout stamp line: name, letters, job line, and whether to show them
  • The last inputs for each calculator, and your recent job lines
  • Checklist ticks, steps marked done, and the guides you opened recently

On a phone this is in the app's own storage. In a browser it's in that site's local storage. Deleting the app, or clearing the site's data in your browser, erases it.

Printouts are drawn on your device. When you save or share one, it goes to your photos, your downloads or the app you share it to. We never receive it.

The app sends nothing to a VoltIQ server. Vercel, which hosts the web app, keeps the standard request logs any web host keeps.

How we use it

We use the visit and tap counts to see which pages and calculators get used, pilot sign-ups only to send test invites, and the emails you send us to answer you. We don't sell any of it, and we don't use it for advertising.

What we don't collect

  • No accounts or passwords. The only names and emails we keep come from pilot sign-ups and emails you send us.
  • No location.
  • No contacts.
  • No ads in VoltIQ today, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
  • No analytics or crash reporting inside the app.

Who handles it

  • Vercel hosts this site and the web app, runs this site's visit counts, and stores pilot sign-ups in a private Blob store.
  • Apple and Google deliver the phone apps. They give app makers download statistics, and crash reports if you've allowed that in your phone's settings. They run the phone pilot through TestFlight and Google Play testing: when we invite you, they get your email, and we see what they share about testers (such as the email an invite went to) and any feedback you send through those apps.
  • Google Workspace holds the support mailbox, so emails you send us, and the test links we email you, are kept there.

Each works under its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

Pilot sign-ups are kept until the public launch, then deleted. Nothing else about you is kept on a VoltIQ server. What's on your device stays until you clear it (below). Vercel keeps its request logs and visit counts under its own terms. There's no set period for support emails yet, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time. If we set a period, it'll be listed here.

Deleting your data

On a VoltIQ server, the only thing about you we store is a pilot sign-up, if you made one.

  • On your device: delete the app, or clear the site data for app.voltiq.tools in your browser.
  • Pilot sign-up: email support@voltiq.tools from the address you signed up with and we'll delete it.
  • Questions: email support@voltiq.tools and we'll answer.

We can't delete what Apple, Google or our host keep under their own terms.

Children

VoltIQ is a tool for working technicians and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.

Changes

When this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
