What to include

  • Which VoltIQ you're on: the web app (and which browser), or the iPhone or Android app
  • Your phone or computer model
  • What you were doing, what you entered, and what you saw
  • A screenshot, if you can
  • For a result, the Printout

Report a wrong result

If a calculator gives a result you think is wrong, we want to know. Send:

  • The Printout. Its AS ENTERED block has everything you typed, under the result. No Printout? Name the calculator and list what you entered.
  • The result you expected.
  • What you checked it against: the standard's designation and section, or the manufacturer's sheet. You don't need to copy any text from a standard.

Using VoltIQ with no signal

  • Web app: open app.voltiq.tools once with signal. When TOOLS shows Works with no signal. the whole app is saved on your device. From then on the calculators, the Printout, the guides and the checklists open with no bars.
  • iPhone and Android apps: the calculators, the Printout, the guides and the checklists are built into the app, so they work with no signal from the start.

On iPhone: Safari can clear a website's saved data, including the offline copy and your saved name and inputs, if you haven't opened it for a while. Add the web app to your Home Screen (below), or use the iPhone app when it's out. The Home Screen copy keeps its own saved data, separate from Safari's, so set your Printout name there.

Add the web app to your Home Screen

iPhone (Safari)

  1. Open app.voltiq.tools in Safari.
  2. Tap Share (the square with an arrow pointing up). If you don't see it, tap the three dots first.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen. If there's an Open as Web App switch, leave it on. Tap Add.
  4. Open VoltIQ from your Home Screen once with signal, and wait for Works with no signal.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open app.voltiq.tools in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three dots at the top right.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen (on some phones it says Install app), then confirm.
  4. Open VoltIQ from your Home screen once with signal, and wait for Works with no signal.

The phone apps

The iPhone and Android apps are coming soon. Until then, the web app is the same app, and it works with no signal once it's saved.

Questions

Is VoltIQ free?

Yes. The calculators, the Printout, the guides and the checklists are free, and they stay free.

Do I need an account?

No. You type your name for the Printout once, and it's saved on your device.

How do I get the phone app before it's in the stores?

Join the phone pilot. When it opens, iPhone testers get an invite from TestFlight and Android testers get a Google Play test link, at the email they signed up with.

My saved name or inputs are gone.

They live on your device. Clearing your browser's data, using a private window, or Safari's clean-up on iPhone removes them. Adding the web app to your Home Screen helps.

Does VoltIQ include the standards?

No. It cites them by designation and never reproduces their text or tables. Check the standard, the AHJ and the manufacturer's spec before you rely on a result.

How do I get my data deleted?

What the app saves is on your device: delete the app, or clear the site data for app.voltiq.tools in your browser. If you signed up for the phone pilot, email us from that address and we'll delete your sign-up. The Privacy page has the details.

Can I suggest a guide or a missing cable?

Yes. Email us.
